The official list of FIU registered crypto exchanges in India now sits inside a register of 54 virtual digital asset service providers. That number is misleading if you only want a retail app that works with rupees. Several entries serve firms, have limited public access, or do not give a clear fee and withdrawal path.
We narrowed the official March 2026 register to 10 active retail choices, then checked INR deposits, trading fees, crypto withdrawals, public reserve data, security history, and support. CoinDCX ranks first overall. CoinSwitch is the best simple app, while Binance is stronger for global liquidity and Delta Exchange India is built for futures and options.

What does FIU registered mean for a crypto exchange?
FIU-IND is the government body that receives and studies reports tied to money laundering and terror financing. Under Indian rules, a crypto exchange that serves Indian users must register as a reporting entity, verify customers, keep records, appoint compliance staff, and report set types of activity.
That registration matters. In September 2026, FIU-IND ordered access blocked to 15 offshore services that had not met the rules. It still does not mean the government has approved the exchange, checked every wallet, insured customer funds, or promised repayment after a hack. The March 2026 parliamentary answer says this in plain terms.
Use the FIU list as a first filter. Then check how money enters and leaves, whether crypto transfers work for your chosen coin, how the firm proves reserves, and what happened during past security failures. Those tests separate a usable exchange from a name on a register.
How we ranked the exchanges
Each exchange had to appear in the government register under its legal company name and offer a live retail service in India on our cut-off date. We scored INR deposits and withdrawals at 25 points, security and reserve evidence at 20, spot fees at 15, liquidity and coin range at 15, crypto transfer support at 10, app and support at 10, and products or API access at five.
A low headline fee did not erase a poor withdrawal path or a major security event. We also avoided giving points for vague claims. An exchange received more credit for a dated reserve report or clear fee table than for a broad marketing statement. Scores are a way to compare current retail use. They are not a forecast of returns or a promise that funds are safe.
We scored the service available to a regular Indian account, not the best rate reserved for a very large trader. Where a feature depended on the coin, network, payment partner, or account review, the table says so. That matters because two customers on the same exchange can see different deposit or transfer choices.
1. CoinDCX: best overall crypto exchange in India
CoinDCX takes first place on the full score. Indian users get direct INR access and a wide market list. A new buyer can use the main app without learning an order book, while the trading view and API give frequent traders more control.
The base spot rate is 0.50% for users with less than ₹2 lakh in 30-day volume. It drops as volume rises, reaching 0.17% from the first VIP tier. That starting price is high beside Binance or Bybit. The extra cost buys a smoother INR route and a product built around Indian banking and tax rules. See our full CoinDCX review for the account flow.
CoinDCX added an in-app transparency centre in 2025. The same year, a security breach hit an internal operational account. The company said customer funds were not affected. We counted the event in the security score even with that assurance. Crypto withdrawals also depend on the account, asset, bank history, and risk checks, so do not assume every customer can send every coin out.
- Direct INR deposits and 24/7 withdrawals
- Large coin list and useful trading tools
- Local tax and account support
- 0.50% entry spot fee
- Crypto withdrawals depend on account checks
- 2025 internal account breach
2. CoinSwitch: best simple app with a Pro mode
CoinSwitch works well for people who want a plain buy screen today and a deeper order book later. The standard app keeps the first trade short. CoinSwitch Pro adds several markets, API access, and more than 400 crypto assets. INR deposits are built into the app.
The company’s May 2026 CoinSwitch Pro review lists 0% maker and 0.10% taker fees for standard spot trades. Promotions can end, so check the live fee screen before placing an order. CoinSwitch also published a proof-of-reserves procedures report for March 31, 2026. The independent report found holdings at least matched customer balances at that snapshot. A snapshot cannot prove what happens every day, but it is better evidence than a self-written asset claim.
CoinSwitch says it serves about 2.5 crore users and has ISO 27001 certification. Its weak point is portability: deposit and withdrawal support can differ by coin, network, and account. Confirm the receive and send buttons for the exact asset you plan to buy. Our CoinSwitch review covers the app in more detail.
- Easy first-buy flow
- Low published Pro spot rates
- Recent reserve procedures report
- Transfer support varies by asset
- Simple and Pro prices can differ
- Aggregated orders can be harder to trace
3. Mudrex: best for coin choice and transfers
Mudrex fits buyers who want direct INR payments and a long list of smaller coins in one account. Crypto deposits and withdrawals are also available. Its public pages advertise more than 650 assets. The firm is registered with FIU-IND as RPFAS Technologies and lists ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type II checks on its compliance page.
INR deposits and withdrawals are free on the current fee page. Base spot trading costs 0.45% on INR-native markets and falls with volume. The expensive part is moving coins out: Mudrex lists a 2% crypto withdrawal charge with a $0.50 minimum, including GST. That can matter more than the trading fee if you move every small purchase to a wallet.
Mudrex is strongest when you want many coins and plan transfers in larger batches. It is less attractive for frequent small withdrawals. The company also says assets are covered through a Lloyd’s-linked insurance arrangement, but that is a company claim with policy terms. It is not a state-backed deposit cover. Read the terms and asset limits before relying on it.
- Free INR deposit and withdrawal
- Crypto transfers are available
- Wide coin list
- 2% crypto withdrawal charge
- 0.45% base spot fee
- Insurance has policy limits
4. Coinbase: best for public-company disclosures
Coinbase registered with FIU-IND in March 2025 and added direct INR deposits and withdrawals in May 2026. That fixed the main gap in its earlier India service. Indian users now get spot markets, perpetual futures, crypto transfers, and the same account design used across Coinbase’s larger global service.
Coinbase publishes more financial detail than the private exchanges on this list. It is a US public company with audited statements and regular filings. Those reports do not insure an Indian customer balance. They do make it easier to examine the wider company.
Pricing needs care. Coinbase does not give every Indian user one fixed base rate on its help page. The order preview can include a trading fee and a spread, while Advanced rates depend on volume. Compare the final amount of crypto you receive with another exchange at the same moment. Coinbase ranks below the top three because its new INR service has a shorter local record and its retail price can be less clear at a glance.
- Direct INR rails added in 2026
- Detailed public financial reports
- Good wallet and network support
- Variable fees and possible spread
- Shorter record for the new India flow
- Some features depend on account eligibility
5. Binance: best for liquidity and low spot fees
Binance has the broadest global market depth in this group. Its regular spot fee is 0.10%, and paying fees with BNB can cut that rate by up to 25%. Active traders also get many order types, futures, options, bots, an API, and deep books across major pairs.
The trade-off is the INR path. Funding choices can include P2P or other payment routes shown for the account, rather than the same direct bank flow offered by a local-first app. Availability changes by user and payment method. P2P adds counterparty steps, so follow the escrow flow and never accept a request to settle outside Binance.
Binance publishes proof-of-reserves data and supports crypto withdrawals across many chains. Users should still check the exact network and fee before sending; a low trading fee can be wiped out by a costly withdrawal choice. Binance ranks fifth because its markets and price are strong, while the INR experience is less direct for many Indian buyers. FIU registration addresses its reporting duty in India. It does not make Binance a licensed bank or broker.
- 0.10% regular spot fee
- Deep books and many pairs
- Wide crypto withdrawal support
- INR route can be less direct
- Many features can overwhelm a new user
- P2P needs extra care
6. ZebPay: best long-running India service
ZebPay has served Indian crypto buyers since 2014, giving it one of the longest local records in this ranking. The app supports INR deposits, withdrawals, spot trading, quick buys, and crypto transfers for listed assets. Its pricing page is also easier to audit than the pages of several rivals.
The entry spot rate is 0.45% for both maker and taker orders. Quick Trade starts at 0.50%, while higher-volume tiers pay less. INR deposits are free and an INR withdrawal costs ₹15. ZebPay also lists a monthly membership charge equal to 0.0001 BTC for an inactive account, with ways to avoid it through qualifying activity or its earn feature. Check the current rule if you plan to leave the account unused.
Pick ZebPay if you value a familiar local service and want a published withdrawal matrix. It loses points for the starting fee and inactivity charge. Its coin list and liquidity can also trail Binance or CoinDCX. Our detailed ZebPay review explains the account and wallet steps.
- Long India history
- Clear fee and transfer pages
- ₹15 INR withdrawal
- 0.45% base spot fee
- Inactive accounts may pay a monthly charge
- Smaller market range than global rivals
7. Bybit: best for advanced derivatives tools
Bybit registered with FIU-IND in February 2025 and said full Indian account access returned in September 2025. It puts spot and derivatives markets in one account, with copy trading, bots, and an API for active users. Base spot fees are 0.10% for maker and taker orders. Base futures rates are 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker.
The security history cuts its score. Attackers stole about $1.46 billion from a Bybit cold-wallet process in February 2025. The exchange said it restored one-to-one customer backing within 72 hours and published a new outside reserve check. Customer withdrawals continued, but the size of the failure matters when choosing a custodian.
Indian funding routes can vary by account and often rely on P2P or a shown payment partner. Bybit makes sense for an experienced trader who understands margin, funding rates, and liquidation. It is a poor first stop for someone who only wants a ₹1,000 Bitcoin buy. Derivatives can close a position before the market later moves in your favour.
- Low base trading fees
- Strong derivatives and API tools
- Broad crypto transfer support
- Very large 2025 security loss
- INR routes vary by account
- Derivatives carry high loss risk
8. Giottus: best for clear INR pricing
Giottus is a local-first exchange with UPI, IMPS, and NEFT funding. Its help centre lists no charge for INR deposits or withdrawals. The minimum deposit is ₹100, and the stated INR withdrawal minimum is ₹500. That makes the cash route easy to understand before opening an account.
Base maker and taker fees are 0.40% on INR spot pairs and 0.30% on crypto pairs. Giottus lists 18% GST on its fees and applies the Indian TDS rule to covered sales. Futures start at 0.018% maker and 0.048% taker. Those rates are clear, although spot trading still costs more than Binance or Bybit.
Crypto withdrawals work for supported assets after account and risk checks. Coin range, order-book depth, and transfer access can vary, so test the exact pair. Giottus ranks eighth because it gets the rupee basics right but has a smaller market than the leaders. Read our Giottus review for the trading and KYC flow.
- Free INR deposits and withdrawals
- UPI, IMPS, and NEFT support
- Plain public fee schedule
- 0.40% base INR spot fee
- Smaller books than global exchanges
- Crypto sends depend on asset checks
9. Unocoin: best for Bitcoin buyers and SIPs
Unocoin began in 2013 and remains one of India’s oldest Bitcoin-focused services. It supports instant buys, an order-book exchange, systematic purchase plans, crypto sends, and INR withdrawals. People who want a recurring Bitcoin plan may prefer its narrower design to an app packed with hundreds of speculative tokens.
Unocoin’s fee page shows rates by asset and market, so check the row for your pair before trading. Its exchange FAQ lists free INR withdrawals and network charges for crypto withdrawals. Sending coins to another Unocoin user by registered mobile number has no charge.
The main catch is its custody fee. An inactive trading account can pay 0.0001 BTC per month, including GST. That is material when Bitcoin rises, so close or use an idle account under the stated terms. Unocoin also trails the larger exchanges on market depth and product range. Its age, Bitcoin tools, and working cash route still earn it a place. Our Unocoin review has more detail.
- Operating since 2013
- Bitcoin SIP tools
- Free INR withdrawals
- Inactive-account custody fee
- Lower market depth
- Smaller coin and product range
10. Delta Exchange India: best for INR-settled futures and options
Delta Exchange India is the specialist here. It focuses on crypto futures and options settled through an Indian account with INR deposits and withdrawals. Futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker at the base tier. Options charge 0.03%, subject to the exchange’s premium cap. Delta also added spot, with a published 0% buy fee and 0.10% sell fee.
The company appears on the FIU list as Excelium Technologies. Its help pages state that 1% TDS applies to spot sales, while its futures and options contracts are treated differently on the platform. Tax treatment depends on the product and your facts, so download the statement and have a tax professional check it.
Delta comes tenth because this is a general exchange ranking. For a derivatives trader, it may be the first account to compare. For a long-term buyer who wants to send Bitcoin to a hardware wallet, a spot-led exchange with a tested transfer route is easier. Options and futures add funding, expiry, margin, and liquidation risks that a simple coin purchase does not have.
- Direct INR derivatives account
- Low futures fees
- Options and trading API
- Built mainly for active traders
- Spot service has a short record
- Margin can cause rapid losses
Which exchange should you choose?
Choose from the action you will perform most often. A first-time buyer who uses bank transfers should start with CoinDCX or CoinSwitch. Someone who moves coins to a personal wallet should check Mudrex, Binance, Coinbase, ZebPay, or Giottus for the exact asset and network. A frequent spot trader may save more through Binance or CoinSwitch Pro. A derivatives trader should compare Delta and Bybit.
Do not compare fees alone. A ₹50 saving means little if INR takes days to arrive or a coin cannot leave the platform. Check the total quote, GST, spread, network fee, TDS entry, withdrawal minimum, and bank settlement time. Keep a copy of every trade and transfer statement. Our broader guide to the best Bitcoin exchanges in India gives more choices for buyers with a narrower Bitcoin goal.
Five checks to make before you deposit
1. Match the company name with the FIU list
An app brand and its registered company often have different names. CoinDCX appears as Neblio Technologies, CoinSwitch as Bitcipher Labs, and Delta Exchange India as Excelium Technologies. Match the legal name in the terms page with the government entry. A logo or a claim that says “FIU compliant” is weaker proof than the dated public list.
2. Test both kinds of withdrawal
INR withdrawal and crypto withdrawal are separate services. An exchange may send rupees to your bank while blocking a coin transfer, or allow Bitcoin sends while one bank route is under review. Open both screens before you buy. Check the minimum, fee, daily limit, network, and expected time. If self-custody matters, a working crypto send is part of the purchase decision.
3. Read reserve reports with care
A proof-of-reserves page can show that selected wallets held enough assets at a set time. It may omit company debts, pledged assets, or risks outside the wallet sample. Look for the report date, the firm that performed the check, customer-liability coverage, and a way to verify your own balance. A recent outside report earns more trust than a dashboard with no stated method.
4. Lock down the account
Use a unique password and an authenticator app or passkey. Turn on withdrawal-address allowlisting if it is offered. Keep backup codes offline. Emails, search ads, and social posts can copy an exchange’s name and sign-in page, so save the correct web address and open the app from your own bookmark. Customer support should never ask for a seed phrase or one-time code.
5. Keep only trading funds on the exchange
An exchange account is useful for buying, selling, and moving rupees. It also leaves custody with the company. For coins you plan to hold for years, compare a personal wallet after learning how seed backups work. Send a small test first and confirm the network on both sides. A mistaken address or network choice can make a transfer final.
Crypto tax in India in 2026
Gains from a virtual digital asset are taxed at 30%, plus applicable surcharge and 4% cess. The rules generally allow the purchase cost but block most other deductions, and a loss on one VDA cannot normally offset income from another. Report each transfer in Schedule VDA.
A 1% TDS can apply to the sale or transfer amount once the relevant threshold is crossed. From April 1, 2026, the new Income-tax Act, 2025 moved this duty into section 393(1), table item 8(vi); the tax department says the rate and thresholds did not change in that move. Exchange reports help, but you remain responsible for a correct return. Trades across two apps can create gaps, so keep one ledger with dates, rupee values, fees, and TDS.
Registered exchanges that did not make the top 10
KuCoin is the first alternate. It appears on the government list and offers many coins, yet its INR route is less direct than the local leaders. It can suit a user who already moves crypto between wallets and wants a market missing elsewhere.
WazirX also appears on the FIU register and restarted after its 2024 cyberattack and court-led restructuring. We left it outside the top 10 because the post-restart withdrawal record is still shorter than those of the exchanges ranked above. Bitbns was left out because we could not confirm a clear, current public withdrawal service and fee record at our cut-off. Registration alone did not earn a place.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best FIU registered crypto exchange in India?
CoinDCX ranks first in our September 2026 review because it combines direct INR deposits and withdrawals, a broad coin list, spot and futures tools, and local support. CoinSwitch is easier for a new user, while Binance has lower base spot fees and deeper global markets.
How many crypto exchanges are registered with FIU-IND?
A Lok Sabha answer dated March 30, 2026 listed 54 virtual digital asset service providers registered with FIU-IND as reporting entities as of March 9, 2026. The number includes more than retail exchanges and can change after that date.
Does FIU registration mean a crypto exchange is safe?
No. FIU registration shows that the firm is enrolled as an anti-money-laundering reporting entity. The government says it is not a licence, approval, endorsement, deposit guarantee, or promise of investor recourse.
Which FIU registered exchange has the lowest fees?
Among the exchanges in this ranking, Binance and Bybit publish a 0.10% base spot fee. A May 2026 CoinSwitch Pro review lists 0% maker and 0.10% taker for standard spot trades. Compare the live order quote because spread, GST, network charges, tier rules, and promotions can change the total.
Can I withdraw crypto from an Indian exchange to my own wallet?
Some exchanges allow it for supported coins and networks, while others limit transfers by asset, account, bank history, or risk review. Check the exact withdrawal screen and test with a small amount before making a large purchase.
Is Binance registered with FIU India?
Yes. The March 2026 government list includes Nest Services Ltd, with an earlier name of Binance International Ltd, as a registered reporting entity. That status covers AML reporting duties and is not a government safety approval.
Is Coinbase registered with FIU India?
Yes. Coinbase India Private Limited appears on the March 2026 government list. Coinbase added direct INR deposits and withdrawals for Indian users in May 2026.
How is crypto taxed in India in 2026?
VDA gains are taxed at 30%, plus applicable surcharge and 4% cess. A 1% TDS can apply to covered transfers after the relevant threshold. From April 1, 2026, the new Income-tax Act kept the rates while moving the VDA TDS provision to section 393(1).
Editorial note: Reviewed by Gaurav Agarwal, founder of CoinCodeCap. FIU status was checked against the government’s March 30, 2026 Lok Sabha answer. Fees, INR routes, crypto transfers, and security disclosures were checked on September 16, 2026. Exchange terms can change.
