S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) and prediction market platform Kalshi signed a preferred-provider agreement on Monday to expand its financial event contracts, the companies said in a statement. The deal allows Kalshi to list event contracts tied to prominent S&P DJI benchmarks, with those contracts set to settle against official index values published by S&P DJI.
The agreement, makes Kalshi a preferred prediction market platform for licensing event contracts linked to S&P DJI indices. In turn, S&P DJI becomes a preferred provider for constructing indices built from Kalshi’s event contract data. The companies made the announcement in New York.
According to the companies, the partnership is also meant to support the development of new indices, combining Kalshi’s market data with S&P DJI’s index-construction work. Potential areas mentioned include indices tracking economics, politics and sports, built from underlying markets on Kalshi’s platform.
Kalshi has faced ongoing allegations that it operates as a gambling platform rather than a regulated financial exchange. The company said the agreement with S&P DJI, a firm with established standing in global finance, could support broader acceptance of its products among retail and institutional participants, though that outcome has not yet been demonstrated.
In a statement on the deal, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour called S&P DJI the “gold standard” for financial benchmarks and saying the collaboration marks a step toward accelerating demand for Kalshi’s products across different types of investors.
