Trending News of the Week

OpenAI’s Most Advanced Humanoid Robot

Openai

OpenAI-backed startup Figure showcased its most advanced humanoid robot, Figure 02. They released a video of the robot working in a BMW factory, completely autonomous and with self-correcting behavior. The new robot is packed with amazing technical features, which makes it stand out from its competitors, such as:
1. Coverstaion- Figure 02 is integrated with mics and speakers and powered by OpenAI AI models. This makes the robot talk to the humans, similar to what we see in the movies.
2. Computer Vision Powerโ€”This feature allows humanoid robots to understand their surroundings by seeing them and using AI models. This makes the humanoid make quick decisions based on the visual input. In addition, the company has installed six RGB cameras around its body, which provide the humanoid with a 360-degree view.
3. Computational Powerโ€”Figure 02 has 3X computational power, and it is powered by an AI interface processor, which makes the humanoid’s backend processing possible.
Moreover, the humanoid hands have 6 degrees of freedom, which provides them with human-level strength. They have a 2.25 KWh battery pack, which gives them a 50% boost in power. The company also plans to integrate GPT-5 soon with the humanoid robot.

AI Companion Necklace, Friend

Openai'S New Humanoid Robot

Based Hardware launched a new AI wearable, “The Friend.” It looks similar to an Airtag hanging around the neck. It is a device that listens to everything you say and hears in the world, transcribes it, and stores it locally. The pendant has a microphone that listens to everything around the wearer. You can ask questions about it related to any conversation, get summaries, etc. It is powered by Claude 3.5 Sonnet large language model(LLM) that helps in language processing and handles backend operations. It has a battery life of around 15 hours and comes in various colors. The start of this wearable is $99, and it will be available for the public from January 2025.

Gemini Topped the Chatbot Arena

Google’s experimental Gemini 1.5 Pro model has outperformed all the AI models, such as GPT-4o. LYSYS Chatbot Arena is a widely used benchmark in the AI community that evaluates AI models on various benchmarks. In the score, Google 1.5 Pro scored 1300, Claude 3 got 1271, and GPT-4o scored 1286. This shows how Google is working on improving its models.

Microsoft listed OpenAI as a competitor

Openai'S New Humanoid Robot

Microsoft invested more than 13 billion dollars in the ChatGPT maker company OpenAI. In return for this partnership, Microsoft integrates all its products with OpenAI’s LLM models, such as MS Office Suite, Edge, etc. Recently, the tech giant declared OpenAI an AI competitor for the first time alongside Anthropic, Amazon, Google, and Meta. This happened after OpenAI announced the Search GPT last week. It is interesting to see how Microsoft and OpenAI will work together while competing in the AI game.
