Major League Baseball, MLB Players, Inc., and Sorare announced their collaboration on Thursday. This partnership will lead to the first Major League Baseball NFT-based free-to-play game. The fantasy baseball game will be released this summer, and fans will be able to create their own Major League Baseball teams in the blockchain game using their favorite players.

Sorare’s technology allows smart connections, which has led to massive success for the NFT game is created. It has collaborated with over 180 football clubs, including Liverpool FC, the Bundesliga in Germany, and Real Madrid.

And baseball has always been on the cutting edge of new technologies and advances, so we’re honored that MLB and the MLBPA have chosen Sorare to bring an NFT MLB Game to fans worldwide,” said Nicolas Julia. It will be the league’s first interaction with baseball fans through the Sorare MLB NFT game, allowing it to engage new fans and introduce existing baseball fans to Sorare’s community of 1.7 million registered users from 184 countries.

The company has seen a 32% month-on-month gain in monthly active users over the preceding 12 months and wants to expand its young and digitally native audience in the United States with MLB.

A cooperative licensing agreement was facilitated by OneTeam, the MLBPA’s collective player licensing partner. “We are pleased to have collaborated with Sorare, whose NFT-based games have transformed the fan experience,” said Henry Lowenfels, OneTeam’s Chief Product Officer.
