According to Rolling Stone, the artists were tasked with creating the NFTs, which also feature the Rolling Stone logo. Deadfellas, Elise Swopes, Boss Beauties, Kideight, Mikegrillmadeit, Markthal Habibi, Domino, Giant Swan, Alida Sun, Jeff Manning, Mister Goldie, and Emonee LaRussa are among the artists who have contributed to the album.
According to the American publication, the event “marks the beginning of an ongoing partnership” between Rolling Stone and Coinbase. According to the announcement, the artwork will be animated before purchasing on the Coinbase NFT marketplace later this year. According to Rolling Stone, “the limited release will offer fans an extraordinary chance to own a piece of history created by some of the crypto space’s most influential digital artists.”
Rolling Stone has experimented with non-fungible tokens before, as evidenced by the partnership with Coinbase and the exclusive non-fungible token drop. Last year, Rolling Stone collaborated on a particular collector’s edition zine with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT project. The founder and CEO of Boss Beauties, Lisa Mayer, expressed her delight at the opportunity to contribute to the collection of NFTs.
Mayer said in a statement about the announcement on February 3 that “having the opportunity to collaborate with an iconic brand like Rolling Stone and an innovative company like Coinbase has been so inspiring. We’re honoured to be included alongside so many other notable creators, and we’re looking forward to seeing how it all comes together,” said a Boss Beauties executive.
This year’s Rolling Stone Live (Rslive2022) will feature Kaskade, Tinashe, Iann Dior, and Lil Jon and a DJ set by the latter. In the run-up to Rslive2022, Doordash and Twitch will collaborate with Rolling Stone to host on-site studio sessions. According to the Rslive2022 logo, Coinbase is hosting this year’s Rolling Stone Live event on February 12, 2022.
