Vitalik Buterin has donated $4 million in USD Coin (USDC) to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) to support the development of a pandemic detection tool.

Buterin’s “moonshot anti-COVID effort,” Balvi Filantropic Fund is a collaboration between the Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme coin project and Crypto Relief.

The Shiba Inu team stated on the portal website that it was created explicitly to increase the scarcity of SHIB and make it “one of the best digital assets in the history of cryptocurrencies.”

The funds collected will be then utilized to expand the Shiba Inu Open-Source Intelligence-based EPIWATCH program. The  Shiba Inu Open-Source Intelligence-based EPIWATCH program employs artificial intelligence (AI) and open-source data to provide early pandemic warning indicators.

The ShibaSwap portal was created as part of a partnership between Shiba Inu and Ryoshis Vision (RYOSHI). The Portal is basically an Ethereum-based decentralized finance (DeFi) project. The aim of the project is to support the growth of the SHIB eco-system.

The funds will be utilized to expand the Shiba Inu Open-Source Intelligence-based EPIWATCH program, which employs artificial intelligence (AI) and open-source data to provide early pandemic warning indicators.

“Open analysis of public data is an excellent alternative to more intrusive forms of monitoring, which are also often only available to governments and other high bidders but closed to the public.”

Buterin has already made significant social impact efforts, including boosting the COVID response in India (India Crypto Aid Fund) and assisting with Ukrainian relief.

“We have witnessed the horrors of the COVID-19 outbreak all across the world in the previous two years.” By making Epitwatch available in low-income nations, the Shiba Inu OSINT Initiative has the potential to avoid future global tragedies such as pandemics. There is a big opportunity to drive significant social change and substantially improved health outcomes, not only for people in those countries but for everyone worldwide,” says Attila Brungs.
