Key takeaways:
- Metamask will now display EIP 1155 NFTs for all gamers and NFT collectors in their latest mobile version (3.6.0).
- ERC-1155 is a one-of-a-kind token that may be used to hold both non-fungible (NFTs) and fungible tokens.

MetaMask describes itself as “your connection to the new web” and is intended to act as a wallet and ID for Ethereum-based blockchain-based online apps. It offers a more secure and private browsing experience in addition to providing users with access to crypto and NFTs. The only hitch is that when consumers have complete control over their data, they cannot afford to lose or give it away on their own.
MetaMask is available as a free iOS and Android app, as well as a desktop browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge.
Today Metamask announced it will display EIP 1155 NFTs for all gamers and NFT collectors in their latest mobile version (3.6.0).
The idea behind this is to lower gas costs while also allowing for more intricate contracts, such as those seen in many games.
The term “Ethereum Request for Comment” (ERC) stands for “Ethereum Request for Comment.”
ERC1155 is a standard for establishing blockchains.
Protocol specifications and smart contract standards are included in each EIP. Once an EIP has been authorised and confirmed by a committee, it becomes an ERC.
ERC-1155 is a one-of-a-kind token that may be used to hold both non-fungible (NFTs) and fungible tokens. In batch token transfers, it’s faster and more efficient.
The ERC1155 standard enables a high number of native token transfers from smart contracts. For example, if we have a series of NFT tokens or fungible tokens (or both), we may transfer numerous of these tokens in the same transaction, making the transfer effective in a single operation.
Use in case of games
Fungible tokens have no unique identity and may be substituted by other identical tokens, similar to how cash tokens work. Non-fungible tokens, on the other hand, have distinct identities and are irreplaceable. In a single token standard, the ERC1155 token standard allows for the development of fungible, semi-fungible, and non-fungible tokens.
Most games have both fungible and non-fungible objects.
For instance, there may be replaceable equipment in the game, such as “basic armour” (that other can fit), semi-replaceable limited-edition apparel (that only a few people may wear), and unique irreplaceable weaponry. This is where the ERC1155 token standard comes in since it eliminates the requirement for fungible and non-fungible tokens to be deployed separately.
Because ERC1155 allows for batch transfers, secure token transfers, and a single contract for fungible and non-fungible tokens, it will be ideal for this use case.
