Chinese President Xi Jinping Commends Blockchain Executive in Open Letter

On June 12, Tsinghua University professor and lead scientist of the Conflux network Andrew Chi-Chih Yao received an open letter of appreciation from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In the past two decades since his return to China, his dedication to education has been unwavering. Yaoโ€™s โ€œpatriotic commitmentโ€ has translated into significant contributions to Tsinghua University, where he has excelled in โ€œteaching, education, and scientific research.โ€ President Xi Jinping recognized his efforts, he stated:

โ€œYou have devoted yourself to Tsinghua University and made great achievements in teaching and educating people and scientific research innovation.โ€

In order to achieve high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, the Chinese president encouraged Yao to carry out his ongoing exploration of independent training models for innovative talents, promotion of interdisciplinary and cutting-edge innovation, the establishment of a base for high-level talent training and scientific and technological innovation, and new contributions to these endeavors. 

In addition to offering fresh insights into attaining advanced scientific and technical self-reliance, the Chinese president urged Yao to explore autonomous training models for creative ability. Additionally, Xi reaffirmed his support for Yao in creating a strong nation in research, technology, and education.

The Shanghai Tree-Graph Blockchain Research Institute, commonly known as the Conflux Foundation, is the organization behind the layer-1 blockchain Conflux, which uses a hybrid proof-of-work and proof-of-stake consensus algorithm. 

The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government favors the project, which bills itself as China’s sole “regulatory-compliant” public blockchain.

The “Ultra-Large Scale Blockchain Infrastructure Platform for the Belt and Road Initiative” was presented by the Chinese government on April 1st and is headed by Conflux Network. This platform aims to provide a public blockchain as a foundation for international applications. The government stated:

โ€œThe main focus of the project is to create a public blockchain infrastructure platform. This platform will be able to support the implementation of cross-border cooperation projects along the Belt and Road Initiative,โ€
