Another music act has joined the online world The Sandbox, as Animoca Brands’ subsidiary announced on Wednesday that Jamiroquai is now a work companion. Jamiroquai is a Grammy Award-winning band that performs funk, acid jazz, heart, nightclub, and R&B. The band is led by frontman Jay Kay.
Jamiroquai’s hits include “Virtual Insanity” and “Canned Heat,” with Virtual Insanity being named MTV’s Video of the Year in 1997. The following year, Jamiroquai won a Grammy Award for the hit song. Sandbox and Jamiroquai intend to commemorate their collaboration with Jamiroquai x Sandbox Merchandise on May 18, 2022.
The merchandise will be a limited edition t-shirt and keyring, and they will solely be available on store.jamiroquai.com. “The strategic collaboration was developed in collaboration with Bravado, Common Music Group’s industry-leading brand management division,” the blockchain-based metaverse firm said on Wednesday. The announcement states:
“The legendary jazz-funk band will convey digital madness to its digital land in The Sandbox.”
The metaverse is one of the most discussed constructs in the blockchain space. And when it comes to the Metaverse, one company has been able to stand out: The Sandbox Metaverse. It is a leading decentralised Metaverse gaming platform with great potential. People can acquire LAND NFTs, create content, and monetize it in Sandbox’s NFT-based Metaverse. In fact, the platform has collaborated with over 165 brands and celebrities to increase the appeal of its Metaverse to users. This enables users to visit their favourite IP brands and artists in virtual reality.
Many well-known brands have expressed interest in the Sandbox, including Adidas and Atari, as well as celebrities such as Snoop Dogg. Avenged Sevenfold has also purchased property in this metaverse. The Winklevoss twins have done the same.
According to Jamiroquai, the band has always been interested in futuristic concepts.
“Jamiroquai have always been forward-thinking and social – creating a land where everyone can come together in The Sandbox with a bit of funk, freedom, and fashion will provide a communal place to digitally connect with our fans and fellow music lovers,” the band said. “We hope to tell you more soon, but for now, we can say that hats will undoubtedly be involved.”
More information about the collaboration with Jamiroquai will be “revealed in the coming months,” according to the announcement. The Sandbox, like its contender Decentraland, is a well-known blockchain-based virtual world. However, both projects’ native crypto tokens have recently taken a beating.
SAND, the Sandbox crypto asset, is up 236 percent year to date, but it is down 53 percent in the last 30 days. Following the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Otherdeed sale, NFT and virtual land sales have also dropped in the last two weeks.
“The metaverse is driving creativity in the music and entertainment industries through new forms of expression and technology, and it is an honour to welcome Jamiroquai to The Sandbox,” ” says Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide a new method of interaction between artists and their fans, and we can’t wait to welcome you all into the world of Jamiroquai with The Sandbox,” said Racheal Redfearn, SVP A&R and Brand Management, Bravado.
It will be thrilling to see fans explore the metaverse alongside their favourite artists, as well as the endless possibilities for enthusiasts to more thoroughly interact in an artist’s vision.
