Licensed metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis announced the news in a press release on ExpertClick and a tweetย yesterday that Meta Platforms, Inc. has filed eight new trademark applications for its new logo. Meta Platforms, Inc. is formerly known as Facebook. The applications were submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on March 18, 2022.
The USPTO can take up to eight months to process trademark applications after they are filed. This indicates the company’s plans to expand into a variety of crypto and virtual products and services.
The services include Crypto tokens, Blockchain software, Virtual currency exchanges, Financial + Currency trading, and Digital, crypto, and virtual currencies.
In this regard, Mr. Kondoudis said that “These filings reflect the company’s strategy for moving into the metaverse. Meta clearly has significant plans for the virtual economy that will drive it.” Further, he said that “Meta’s latest trademark filings will surely be of interest to participants in the financial sector and beyond.”
Some days back a piece of news came that NFTs would be integrated into Instagram’s various products in the near future. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri stated in December that the company is “currently exploring NFTs and how we can make them more accessible to a wider audience,” while Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in October that the metaverse will need to enable “ownership of digital products or NFTs.”
