With big companies like Microsoft and Apple stepping their foot into the Metaverse, the cosmetics brand owner L’Oréal is also planning to do the same. On February 10, CoinDesk shared details of the world’s biggest brand filing 17 NFT and digital trademarks for a few of its most famous beauty brands.

The filings are in the name of cosmetic companies like Kiehl’s, Maybelline, Pureology, Urban Decay, Redken, It Cosmetics, and nail varnish brand Essie, as shared by World Intellectual Property Organization. After the successful completion of the registration, L’Oréal will be able to cover digital media, art, art, tokens, NFTs, collectable advanced things and pictures.

In addition to all this, Kiehl’s will also have the right to non-downloadable virtual fragrances in the metaverse. L’Oréal’s majority of registration has been filed with the aim to allow its customers to buy, sell, and trade virtual cosmetics in the digital world.

L’Oréal’s first initiative in Metaverse was in December 2021; L’Oréal Paris USA asked five artists to create NFTs to promote gender equality in the digital world. However, this effort was unsuccessful as it could only generate a sales volume of $1,550 to this day.
