Key Takeaways:

  • Laura Shin accused Charles Hoskinson of lying about his educational qualifications.
  • Supporters of Cardano are not happy with her generalizing them.

Crypto journalist Laura Shin has received accolades in her career. She has also worked with Forbes as a senior editor. However, recently things have taken a drastic turn. The journalist has been thrashed on the internet for calling out Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson of fake claims.

On March 8, the journalist took to Twitter to share her doubts about the legitimacy of the educational qualification of Hoskinson. But that was not it. She has made several similar allegations on her social media. In addition, in her book, “The Cryptopians: Idealism, Greed, Lies, and the Making of the First Big Cryptocurrency Craze,” she said that Hoskinson never completed his undergraduate degree and also never even got enrolled as a PhD scholar.

After the tweet got viral, she received immense hate from Cardano users. She has shared a few of the hateful messages she has been receiving and said, “I’m sorry, Cardano people, but this is not cool…”. However, even this tweet has infuriated audiences. Cardano supporters felt offended that she had generalized them. One user commented, “I’m sorry this happened, but damn. Thanks for generalizing us.”

Laura clarified that though all the hateful messages were from Cardano supporters, her intention was not to generalise them.
