Hacker’s Message

The hacker’s initial post, which was posted on the announcements channel, claimed that OpenSea had partnered with YouTube to bring their community into the NFT Space.

The scam suggested that OpenSea was releasing a pass that would allow holders to mint NFTs for free and other insane utilities, and the message continued: You are able to get this mint pass below for 100% free. There will only be 100 of these however, once they are gone they won’t be coming back and you will have to purchase off the OpenSea marketplace. Congratulations to those who get one.

A suspicious link was then included, which directed to a website for the YouTube Genesis Mint Pass.

OpenSea Support team tweeted as soon as they were notified of the attack. They have tweeted that, We are currently investigating a potential vulnerability in our Discord, please do not click on any links in the Discord.

An attacker posted the malicious links on several of their Discord channels. Their analysis shows the attack had limited impact, with less than ten wallets being impacted, and stolen items were also less than 10 ETH. Team will continue to investigate this attack and keep the community updated with any new information.

Last month, we saw a OpenSea Phishing Link Scam , where Hackers have profited around 3 ETH from using the phishing link. Also, we have seen a different OpenSea Phishing Link Scam with a phishing site with its Twitter account. Here is another OpenSea Phishing Link Scam, where a different fake Twitter account was promoting a different website.
